by LUCIAN

'A ménage à trios of figurative painting, pop art and colour theory'

LUCIAN (b. 1988)  is a painter (and activist) who looks to represent the figure faithfully whilst at the same time abstracting it, allowing the viewer to see the abstract beauty in the figurative and the figurative beauty in the abstract.

"I love the repetitive power of pop art, but also the gestural excitement of figurative painting. I am always looking to bring these together and then bring the full power of colour theory to bear in it’s execution."

His work crosses over into other media including photography, fashion, video and installation that commemorates the process of figurative painting.

His last show at AWS Gallery, Halfway Between An Atom & A Star, was an "explosive and immense love letter to the universal nature of art."

A student of Camberwell College of Arts, and of the advertising industry, he has had work acquired by the V&A permanent collection and has been exhibited by Vie D’Artiste, the Design Museum, the art'otel & The Artist Workspace Gallery.

He lives and works in London.
